When Community Relations in the Oil Industry Break Down

Twelve people were killed in Yemen yesterday when Al-Harif tribesmen clashed with a Yemeni army unit guarding a Ukrainian oil firm in the eastern province of Shabwa, according to red24 Daily News.

The violence erupted after tribal members prevented staff from working at the plant, in protest over their appeals for employment being rejected. The tribesmen also set fire to a military vehicle and held six soldiers hostage for several hours.
